Fabrizio Vitale graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Messina with top honors and completed his specialization in Microbiology and Virology at the University of Palermo. He currently serves as Head of the TSE Laboratory, Director of the Molecular Biology Unit/Area at IZS Sicilia and Head of the National Reference Centre for Animal Leishmanioses. His academic experience includes appointments as Adjunct/Contract Professor of Inspection of Foods of Animal Origin at the University of Palermo and as Adjunct/Contract Professor of Inspection of Foods of Animal Origin and Food Safety at the Specialization School in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. He has also been an Expert at the WOAH Leishmania Reference Laboratory, Team Leader of the DISCONTOOLS Leishmania section and Head of the Entomology and Environmental Vector Control Laboratory (EVA).
