Vesna Milićević

Head of the Department of Virology, Institute of Veterinary Medicine of Serbia

Dr Vesna Milićević is Head of the Department of Virology at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of Serbia and a National Reference Laboratory expert in several transboundary and zoonotic animal diseases. Her work focuses on molecular diagnostics, genomic epidemiology, and the integration of laboratory data into national and international surveillance frameworks. She has extensive experience in outbreak investigations and wildlife surveillance. Dr Milićević previously worked with the European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD) and has coordinated multiple international projects, including IAEA Technical Cooperation (TC) projects and the Interreg Danube Region Programme project AVIATOR. She has also contributed to EuFMD initiatives and other European collaborative programmes. She is actively involved in capacity building and harmonisation of veterinary laboratory diagnostics across Europe and serves as an author and reviewer in the field of veterinary virology.
